Since our recent Dunk’d service in the Savannah River, I’ve heard different individuals make this statement with excitement in reference to the baptism service: This is why I do what I do at TNC! Our Dunk’d services celebrate a public commitment of a life transformed by Jesus Christ! There is no doubt that’s a win for God and His church. So every time these people see an individual go through the waters of baptism demonstrating their commitment to follow Christ, they understand they share in the win for God’s Kingdom by serving (no matter what capacity) at TNC. To each of you who serve Christ at TNC, we celebrate the win with you!
As we approach the dog days of summer, July and August, remember that every week, even in the summer, new people attend looking for answers in life. Let’s continue to work hard in our portable situation to serve, set up, tear down, park, greet, care for kids and create environments that are real and relevant. Our prayer and desire is that on any given Sunday in July and August these people will see and experience Jesus, because we know He is the only answer!
The win at TNC is transformed lives! I can’t wait until our next Baptism service so that we can once again be reminded that God is transforming lives! What a joy it is to be part of His team and winning for His kingdom!
I hope to see you Sunday, as we continue with our series, Games People Play. Here’s a clue to this week’s game, “You Sank My Battleship”.
Can’t wait for Sunday!

The ride of our life continues! If you missed Sunday morning’s announcement at TNC, let me update you about the exciting info with a brief overview. You can also go to our website and watch Sunday’s message as well.
God’s vision for TrueNorth Church has always been to create an authentic and relevant environment where people in the CSRA could experience God’s love, acceptance and purpose for their life. In two and a half years we’ve seen over 200 baptisms, lives changed, marriages and families mended, and a church that is averaging over 1,100 folks in attendance at North Augusta High School. In a short time we’ve had an effective outreach in North Augusta and in Augusta.
However, those who live in Richmond and Columbia counties face many hurdles as they seek to follow the TNC strategy of “investing” and “inviting” their "fish" (those who don’t attend church) to experience the life changing person of Jesus Christ.
Through some exciting developments over the past year, it has become apparent that God is leading us to follow His vision by launching a campus in Columbia County. This multiple site will be located at Augusta Prep and will have an atmosphere identical to what we've created at TrueNorth Church. We will have Journeyland (preschoolers) Kidz Stuff (Grades 1-5) and I will be presenting the message via video (huge screen), there will be a live band and a Campus Pastor (Jay Knotts) with staff to meet the needs of those attending.
Nothing at our North Augusta campus will change. We will continue to pray and seek land in North Augusta for a permanent site. The TNC core essentials will remain the same. We will operate under the same mission, vision, staff, budget and strategy. We will simply become “one church with two locations”.
The TNC-Columbia County site will launch in January, 2008. Of course there are many more details to be shared in the upcoming days, weeks and months, but that’s the nuts and bolts of God’s vision! I am stoked, our leadership is pumped and if you run into Jay and Laura Knotts watch out because they are ready to lead TNC-Columbia County in a big way!
In our early days, there was a scripture that we kept up front and center as we started TNC. Jesus spoke these words to Peter, as he prepared Peter to become one of the emerging leaders in the NT Church in the book of Acts.
“…and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”
Matthew 16:18 (NIV)
Jesus said this was His church and that the gates of hell couldn’t prevent it from expanding to share His love with all people! Our resolve at TNC has been that this is His church not ours! He can build it a whole lot better than we can, look what He has done so far! Our belief is that He is leading us to launch this multiple site, we can’t wait to see what He will do as we follow His instructions faithfully and enthusiastically! All I can say is: Yeah God! You lead and we will follow!
A beautiful weekend is in front of us! I hope you have the opportunity to get outside with family and friends to enjoy the sunshine and spring temperatures. It’s going to be a beautiful day Sunday as we come together for an extra special day at TrueNorth!
Sunday morning I will be unveiling God’s future direction for TrueNorth Church! His Vision is Big and we have some Big News to share as we follow His lead to reach those who don’t know Jesus in the CSRA!
Also remember that Kidz Stuff will be hosting Family Day Sunday morning during both service times. If you have a child in Grades 1-5, come join them in Kidz Stuff and find out what they experience every week! It will fire you up and bless you to know what your kids experience at Kidz Stuff. Don’t forget that your child can attend both Kidz Stuff services this week so you can attend Kidz Stuff one hour and our service in the gym the other hour. Service times are 9:00 am and 10:45 am!
And of course Sunday night at 6:00 pm, we culminate our day with Facedown! This service has become a highlight for all who attend as we engage God through worship, prayer and communion in a unique and special way. You don’t want your family to miss the evening as we focus our hearts and minds in praise and adoration on Jesus! It’s going to be a great way to top off a beautiful weekend. I can’t wait to see you Sunday!
Just a little excited...
